We're Past Our Due Date Now!

Hello friends and family!

The boys would have been born Saturday... can you believe it? To celebrate, my sweet friends and family threw me a shower in Tyler (since we didn't have one before). It was only my second time home since I spend every moment I can with Ford and Hayden. They received lots of great presents that they are just going to love when they get home.

Speaking of home, we were hoping to be there by our due date, but Ford and Hayden still need a little time. They are both coming along, but home will have to wait a little while longer.

Hayden is getting closer. He did almost 24 hours off the oxygen yesterday and today... only going on it during feeds. He had to go back on this morning, but he is getting there. The doctor says he is close since he's eating so much better. It could be days instead of weeks before he is home, probably on a little oxygen, but we can handle that.

As for Ford, he is still doing good on his bubble c-pap. He doesn't like the contraption, but he needs it so his lungs stay nice and expanded. His next step is high flow oxygen and hopefully that will also be as easy of a transition. Ford is probably a month or 2 away from coming home and that sure will be hard on us to see him have to stay while Hayden is home... but we will work it out. The important thing is Ford is doing a lot better and we have a lot to be thankful for... in time he too will be home and we will be one big happy family. I CAN'T WAIT!

We love you all... appreciate your prayers and couldn't do this day in and day out without you all and of course our Lord! He keeps us strong and we know that is why Ford and Hayden have come through the dark times.
Love,
Dana, Trey, Ford and Hayden

It is so wonderful to hear the great news! We still miss your sweet smile in the mornings.Glad that you are able to spend time with the boys. They are handsome little guys. You and your family will be in my daily prayers. Thank you and Trey so much for keeping us informed. I was getting alittle worried it had been ten days since an update. Praise God the days ahead are looking brighter & coming home is in the near future. God Bless you all.

Dear Dana,

You and your precious family have been "extra"-heavy on my heart for the past several days. I've been constantly checking your blog for an update, and, of course, lifting your names to our Father each time.

I've prayed for the continued breath of Jesus within Ford and Hayden and the tender, loving care of their nurses. I've prayed for the continued wisdom for their doctors. I've prayed for His continued peace - the peace that truly passes all understanding and the peace that one cannot possibly understand until you've been totally immersed in it - on you and Trey.

And I've wanted to drop you a note just to let you know that I'm thinking of you and praying for you and to give you a scripture or two, but every time I started to write, words failed me...His Word escaped me. Until now - and through a friend - He gave me a scripture to share with you, so I logged on to drop you a note - and to my delight, here is your latest update!

I'm so happy the boys are doing so much better - and as they do better, so will you and Trey. Now I'm just saying "thank you, Jesus" for this report and for His amazing (why am I always so surprised?) timing in giving me this scripture and a word (or too many!) for you.

I hope you have a peaceful, restful night and a blessed tomorrow.

"I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord." Psalms 40:1-3 (especially v. 3)

And because it is special to me, once again...

"For I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

How wonderful to log on and read a new update. Sounds as though the health of your precious twins continues to move forward. Thanks be to God! God is Good, and your family will forever be able to give testimony to that. We will continue to pray that your boys lungs will continue to develope and that both of them will soon be breathing on their own. God has answered so many prayers these past three months and we know by faith that he will continue to. Take care of yourselves and each other so that you can remain strong for your boys. "Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever".

I confess that I was also anxious when we didn't have any news on the blog for awhile. I guess it just made me pray harder! It is good to know the steps forward that the boys have made and I continue to pray for the "leaps" that will surely come in the Lord's timing.
God grant you His peace which passes all understanding as you continue to stand watch over your children.
In His Precious Name,
Anita Cole

Dana,
I wanted to let you know that since being home and sporting the boys braclet many thoughts and prayers have been extended here in Georgia. All my students have asked what the braclet is for and I show them the blog. They are amazed at well the boys are doing. I enjoyed getting to visit with you guys while at home. I hate that I could not get in to see Ford and Hayden but after we get seetled in Oklahoma we will be able to come visit more. Know that many, many prayers are being sent your way from Georgia and Savannah can't wait to see her babies!! She loves her cousins!
Love you guys,
Angie

Our daughter was born 31 years ago. She was born in the sixth month. She would stop breathing, and an alarm would sound and they had a pink string tied to her ankle and it ran through the isolette to a tongue depressor and they'd pull on the tongue depressor stick to remind her to breath. Back then, they "bagged" her to help her after she got off oxygen and she was tired. Oxygen was not easily regulated and it was guesswork, and they thought she might be mentally handicapped, and probably sick alot with lung-related problems because of the hylane (sp?) disease. So, she is a registered nurse now -- very smart, and never throughout her life. When you can hold your babies on your chest, and they can hear your heartbeat, and you see them drink a whole bottle, you will hardly remember what you are going through now.

You all have been heavy on my heart and mind.I was hoping to find an update. Since there is no new, news I am praying that Lil Ford & Hayden are still making great progress. I know that God is in control & with that in mind I am comforted and I know that you all are too. I pray that you all can find time or make time to rest, regain your strength and feel reenergized. God please continue to shower the Hughey family with all your Blessing, you know all their needs I am asking that you meet each need as they arise. Thank you in advance Jesus.

Good morning to your sweet family. I know that you are walking on air since you got to take little Hayden home yesterday. Clint was just beaming this morning when he made the announcement. We are praying extra hard for little Ford, and know that he will be soon be joining you and everyone can come home to Tyler again. Take care and try to get some much needed rest. The end of this journey is about to be here and you will come out of it a much stronger family. Thanks be to God for all his love and for carrying us when we are to weak to walk. Much love from a KTAL viewer.

Praise the Lord!!! I am so happy to hear that you were able to bring little Hayden home with you yesterday. I just about broke into tears for you when I heard Clint break the news just a moment ago. I know you must be elated! We are praying extra hard for little Ford to keep trucking along and come home in the near future. I can't help but think of the lyrics to one of my favorite gospel songs...
"The chains that seem to bind you, serve only to remind you, that they drop POWERLESS behind you, when we Praise Him." God bless you, Trey, and your sweet boys.

Soon this will have been a emotional roller coaster in the past.
So close to raising two healthy, happy baby boys.
We will continue to pray each day you can return to your home with these sweeties. So wonderful to hear the truly bad times are over.
