We thought it was time, but we learned yesterday... it's in His time. Ford's attempt off the ventilator yesterday did not go the way we had hoped and prayed for. He just wasn't ready. He made it several hours before his doctor decided now was not the time. I am sure the Lord has a plan for Ford to prosper off the vent, but as much as we don't like it yesterday was not that day. It is so hard when things don't happen the way you want them to, especially when you are talking about our precious son, Ford. Our doctor thinks he may have a "floppy airway" which makes it hard for him to breathe and burn off CO2. He was oxygenating fairly well, but his lungs were working a little too hard and had some collapse. I know he is going to get better. I just hope soon the Lords answer is.... NOW is the time. Until then we will be faithful in our prayers for Ford getting off the vent.
Last night this mommy and daddy were at the hospital til 3:30 with Ford and Hayden. We stayed with Ford til he was more comfortable and until we were too about leaving.
Hayden got his first big boy bath yesterday out of the bed. He seemed a little shocked, but liked his little dip in the water. He still has a lot of obstactles to overcome as well. The feeds are still hard on him, he is still not sure about the swallow and breathe part of "suck, swallow, breathe." They still have 4 weeks til their due date so we have time.
I want you to know we miss you all, miss Tyler, our friends and extended family, but this is where we need to be right now... with our sweet boys.
Until next time-- Dana, Trey, Ford and Hayden

Mommy of 5
Dana and Trey,
I just wanted to let you know I am a mother of a little one named Hayden too. He will be two years old on April 19th. WOW, what an odd deal huh?? I didn't realize you were due on April 29th til tonight? Just wanted to remind you in your valleys "GOD IS STILL SO AWESOME AND IN CONTROL!!" I know you know that already but it doesn't hurt to hear it from others from time to time. Although Ford was not able to come off the vent God is still working in his life and in his body, disappointing but not hopeless!! They are so handsome and getting so BIG!! I know you enjoy watching them change daily, its such an awesome experience!! We are praying for your handsome two and I just felt the Lord pricking my heart to send you a message and tell you so. Jeremiah 29:11-12. BIG Hugs from Tyler!! in HIS care, Lori and David Acker
Sometimes it's hard to understand how something that sounds so simple to us can be so difficult for babies born too soon. Hayden will get the hang of suck, swallow, breathe before too long and Mr. Ford will come right along as well. Lots of prayers for the four of you!

Dana and Trey, The babies are just precious! We have not forgot about you all! All of you are still in our thoughts and prayers everyday. We miss seeing you every morning and hearing your voice Dana. Can't wait till you are home in your comfortable enviroment and home with all of your little family and returning back to work with healthy little boy's! WE MISS YOU!
Hayden looks like his precious mommy
We are still keeping all of you in our prayers and know that it won't be long before you are all back home. God has brought you this far and he won't let you down, so try to just take each day as it comes and look forward to wonderful times ahead with your precious babies. I'm just so sorry that you and Trey have had to go through this difficult time, but you will come out of it with a stronger faith and will be able to help others in the future. Looking forward to seeing you back on the news and reporting all the cute things the babies are doing. Keep the faith and God will see you through.
Dear sweet Dana and Trey,
Dana, when I first saw you holding your little sons so close to your breast, I thought how God has His loving arms around you holding you close to His breast as His child. As your sweet face shows the love and faith you have for these precious little ones future health and life,I am reminded of Mary as she "pondered these things in her heart" as she reflected on her Son's future. You and Trey's expressions of faith in God speak volumes of the parents you are. Your hearts must be so full! Remember you are not going through this alone but with multitudes of caring people who love your little family.
Will continue keeping you all in my prayers.

I am so proud of your little fighters. They are getting so big. I hope when they come home you will have a new blog to let us know when they roll over, crawl and walk. They are so precious and I pray for you all the time. I can't believe how far they have come and they are little fighters. Keep up the good work and we are here for you
Your little handsome guys are getting so big. I know it is frustrating when things don't happen in "our time". I just know from examples in my life that God is faithful and know what is best for us and when. Still, He understands us, knowing we want what we do as we are humans. How wonderful it is to know God is truly there for us, holding us close through all of our trials. You all are still and will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers! We have faith that Ford will soon be breathing on his own and they both continue to grow and get healthier by the day. Thank you again for continuing to update us all as you have the opportunity. Your faith is so inspiring. God bless you both, you precious sons, family and doctors.

Just checking for an update. I pray that all is going good for you all.
I hope this week has brought lots of progress and positive days for Ford and Hayden. They continue to be in my prayers. I look forward to an update. I pray that God will continue to grace you with strength and faith. You are an awesome Mommy and Daddy!
I have family in the Nachadoces area and was checking on the flooding situation when I saw your story. The boys are absolutely beautiful and appears to be making great progress. My sis and I are Twins born of Texas parents. Our Father was from Garrison and our Mother from Tenaha. We celebrate the arrival of Ford And Hayden and will be lifting you all up in our prayers. God is in control and He has a perfect plan for you all. God Bless you from Maywood, Missouri - Marilyn Lisenbee
Hi Dana & Trey,
Don't know if you remember me but I was one of your nurses at MCA in L&D. Just recently found out about Ford & Hayden's blog and had to read everything to see how they were doing. They have grown into such handsome little men. Know that I have been praying for them since they were born along with my prayer group at my church. We have a list of babies we pray out of NICU. Selfishly I pray for the babies I have grown attached to first. They are referred to as "my babies". Get plenty of rest and take good care of yourself, before you know it they will be going home and you will need all your strength.
Hugs & Kisses,
Manuela
Just wanted to say what I am sure
you have heard time and time again.
My families prayers are with you and your wonderfully beautiful family.
Jessi
Dear Dana, Trey, Ford and Hayden,
The boys are getting so big and so beautiful! (I probably should say handsome - and they are - but the word "beautiful" expresses both the inward and outward beauty I see...it makes my heart smile.)
If I were you, I'd start planning now for how you are going to keep the girls away from them and out of your house in a few years!
I am still lifting your doctors, nurses and staff up to our Lord - for their wisdom in finding treatments; their mercy in praying and caring for these precious babies; for soft, gentle touches; still, quiet words whispered into tiny ears that reach little hearts; for Jesus to be so close to them that they share His heartbeat.
I am also praying for you and Trey, Dana. For precious, sweet times with the boys - rocking, feeding, changing and bathing. For your strength and rest. For calm, peaceful spirits that allow God to take care of you. And for Jesus to be so close to you both that you share His heartbeat.
I'd like to share some of my favorite scriptures with you today, I hope they bless you.
"Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the EVERLASTING God, the CREATOR of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. BUT THOSE WHO TRUST IN THE LORD WILL FIND NEW STRENGTH. THEY WILL SOAR HIGH ON WINGS LIKE EAGLES. THEY WILL RUN AND NOT GROW WEARY. THEY WILL WALK AND NOT FAINT." Isaiah 40: 26-31
And, because I always think it's worth repeating...
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
I am looking forward to your entire family returning home and to seeing you back on the news, Dana!
I hope you have a blessed day.

Dana & Trey,
Still praying for your sweet boys and hope that all of you will soon be home. We are just hoping that your internet is down again since you haven't posted lately, and that the boys are still improving every day. We check the website daily to find out how you are. Hopefully you won't have too many more days in the NICU amd can finally be home to enjoy your little ones.
God is HUGE! and he is all knowing. His plans for your boys must be special because he has already helped bring a community together through them. What a wonderous thing they have already accomplished in their short lives. I wanted to tell you how much I respect your family right now. Your faith has been put through the ringer, and you have yet to show the world that you have faltered in your unswerving belief in HIM. I prey for your family every time I check up on you. I prey that you continue to see His Hands in all things and that you always feel His Grace and Love! We can do all things through Christ.

My eyes fill with tears every time I check the progress of your babies. Even though I've never experienced having a premature baby, I have been through the trauma and stress of having a sudden, severe and ultimately chronically ill child, so my heart and my prayers continue to go out to you. Isn't it comforting to know that God is in control and that you can allow Him to be. He loves your boys even more than you can imagine and holds them close to Him. May you rest in that and receive His portion for you today. God's grace and peace be with you today~
P.S. Our daughter spent several months at Cook Childrens - what a wonderful, quality facility they have - you are in good hands!
I am the mother of 24 week twins (conceived via IVF). They were due 07/27/2007, but were born on 04/10/2007. My daughter weighed 1 lb 5.5 oz and my son weighed 1 lb 5.0 oz. They both were about 11.6 inches in length. I know much of what you are experiencing. The ups and downs and vents and CPAPs. My children, too, had the patent ducus arteriosus ligation surgery (at 4 days old). When my twins were born their eyes were still fused. I didn't get to look into their eyes for over 2 weeks. My daughter came home on 07/03/07 (a month before her due date). My son, however, didn't get to join us until 08/07/07. I was really not prepared for that separation. I thought NICU room - level seperation was difficult. Twins are such a wonderful gift and I loved being their mother. I had just started back to work in late October (3 blocks from my home). On 11/12/2007 my sister called me at work to tell me that my sweet little boy stopped breathing during a nap. I rushed home and started CPR, he was taken to the hospital (2 blocks from my home) where he was unable to be saved. I miss him so much and I truly hope that no parent has to go through this. MY heart hurts everyday and it doesn't get better. I wish for you peace and health. It may sound silly to you now, but I miss my NICU days. I had both of my babies near and I knew they were closely monitored. I hope things gowell for you; a little boy is so, so precious. I will be happy to listen if you ever get NICU exhausted and need to talk.
