Quick Update as of Wednesday the 21st of May

I would first like to begin by apologizing for the lengthy delay b/w postings…this full time job of being parents has kept us quite busy. As mentioned in our last post, Hayden is out of the Hospital and he is doing very well. Not sleeping as much as we would like…but we are going to be the last to complain. Our Ford is still in the NICU...now on a 1/8th of a liter of oxygen. The main reason Ford is still in the Hospital is that he is not eating as well as the doctors would like. He is not a fan of eating from the bottle. In order for Ford to be released, he has to eat all 8 of his meals each day by bottle. He is currently eating every other meal by bottle and the rest by his feeding tube. He eats 80 ml each feed, and has trouble swallowing the entire feed. He has such an oral aversion…mainly from being intubated for such a long time. He fights his feeds so much. So for the past week or so, we have been waiting for his feeding to click…but that has obviously not happened yet. We are holding out hope that Ford will be released and the entire Hughey clan will be home in Tyler by early part of June. We continue to pray that our boys will one day be healthy little babies…they will continue to have their hurdles…but we are overjoyed with the way they have turned out. The fight that these two kiddos have put up so far, at such an early stage in their life is overly inspiring. These “little fighters” who were given very bleak odds to make it through their first night, have shown unbelievable resilience and have overcome remarkable hurdles. Without your prayers and well-wishes being sent their way each day….who knows what the outcome would have been. Dana and I firmly believe that the power of prayer kept our boys going…and most definitely kept us going. So from the bottom of our hearts…we thank you and will forever be indebted to all of the magnificent friends that we have made along the way. This experience turned our lives upside down and inside out…our way of life and daily routines changed on January 8th. Our faith has grown exponentially throughout this journey….I thought I knew how to pray before all of this started, how naïve I was. Now I can say with certain, that I along with Dana have seen prayers being answered by our wonderful Lord and Savior. He is most definitely the Lord of all Lords. And we are forever Thankful and Grateful to have him working behind the scenes on our behalf. Thank You…Thank You…Thank You!!

What a treat to read your most recent update. We out here in siber-space have followed your journey for these past 4 months 1 week and 6 days, and pray daily for your family. So it is heart warming to read the progress your twins have made as well as read about the specific hurdles that are left to conquer. So good to read that Hayden is progressing at home and that Ford continues to make positive progress as well. We will pray that Our Lord will continue to heal Ford's physical needs and give him the strength and developmental aids to master his feedings. Your twins have come so far by the grace and mercy of our Lord, and know that the Lord will continue to keep them in his tender care.
Since the birth of your twins you have watched a miracle unfold right before your eyes, and He is not finished, "I will be with you always", says the Lord.
God bless you all!

Oh yeah! I'm so glad to hear Ford is getting close to coming home. I was so excited to see the update, and I continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. The Lord is good and he will continue to be with you and the boys as you finish your NICU days. They are precious miracles, and I am so thankful for all the strides they have made. Enjoy your time...they grow up so fast...you will turn around and wonder where these days went as you watch them run around...they definitely don't stay little long. I pray you are all home in Tyler soon! Get some rest and keep smiling! You are great parents!

I am anxious for you all to get home to Tyler. Your lives will never be the same but the joy your little ones give will be your guiding light.

Miracles happens around us everyday - we just don't always see them!

We have friends that were in the same position...when all the odds were against them, but through a lot of prayers God took their little angel in His hands and did another miracle.

Today she is almost 3 years old and healthy as can be!

There is endless power in praying!!

I hope and pray that you will all be together soon.

I am assuming that Lil Ford is home now. YEAH!!!! I don't expect to see many updates now you all want have time for this stuff. I don't blame you. You should be enjoying your precious gifts instead of keeping the world involved, it is time to focus only on your family. Thanks for allowing us all to be involved thus far. I will continue to pray for you all. God Bless you all. I pray that he pours down blessings that is overflowing with good health and prosperous lives for you all.

Hi! I am a mom in Tyler who has been keeping up with your boys' courageous journey. They are strong little guys and have made so much progress! The boys have already been through so much in their young lives that I hope they aren't made to go through any unnecessary procedures such as circumcision. National medical organizations, such as the AAP and WHO do NOT recommend it. 50% of the boys born in the US are intact (uncircumcised), including my own precious son, and 80% of the men in the world are intact, happy and problem-free. I hope your boys will get to keep their bodies just as God made them: whole.
