Day Thirteen of a long, bumpy journey...

The boys have had such an up and down last few days. It seems as though they are playing tag team...which has been quite exhausting for mom and dad. One will be having an OK day while the other needs all the attention....then they switch. We can already tell that our hands are going to be full when we take them home. Dana and I are coming to terms with the fact that their lungs are so premature and filled with such a chronic disease, that they need to rely on all of their ventilators and oxygen for support. We are learning more than we would like to know about how sick babies can be and how long the road is to recovery. Just yesterday our little Hayden decided to take a slight nose-dive...I'm thinking he is going to be our dramatic one. I never thought how emotionally draining this was going to be. There is absolutely nothing that can prepare a parent to witness their children experience the NICU. It is filled with uncertainty, fear and the feeling of helplessness. I now know what they mean when they say it is an hour by hour, shift by shift, day by day long, bumpy journey. Each day presents something new...the doctors have to tweak something here, tweak something there. The greatest feeling is knowing that we have such an amazing support group of family, friends and loyal KLTV viewers that continue to lift us up through prayer. We continue to ask all, to send prayers and positive thoughts to our little ones, so we can witness this miracle go on and on. We thank you again for all the encouraging comments and moving stories that give us hope each day. We are so lucky to be in a position to have a forum like this blog, that can draw attention to prematurity and the wonderful success stories that go along with it. Dana and I are forever indebted to all of you...and we can't wait to post healthy, complication free pictures of our two miracles twins for all of you to see.

Thank you again, and we are so blessed to have all of you along for the ride with us...driven by our lord and savior,

Trey, Dana and the boys.

Hang in there, I know you must be exhausted. Know your entire family has been emersed in prayer and will continue to be. Thank you for the updates, as I know it takes time away from the boys to do it. We appreciate it so much. We can't wait to see new pics of them getting bigger and stronger. May God bless you and give you strength and energy you didn't know you had!

Dear Hughey Family,

Bless your hearts, this rocky road has got to be a difficult one to manage. I am so proud that you have each other to lean on and so many family members to help you get through these ups and downs.

Our prayers are always with you. Our thoughts are focused on the outcome when those precious boys get to come home.

The most amazing people work in the Neo-unit. They are in excellent hands.

May God bless each of you, Trey.
My love to Dana, Bill, Janet, Jacque and of course, the boys.

Remember God is in control,so if God's will our prayers will be heard. One day you will look back on these days, laughing telling the boys what a hard time you had, but that God saw them through.

Praying for you,

I just wanted to let you know that I have been praying for you since the first time I heard Clint say on the news what was going on. I am in daily constant prayer for all four of you. i am praying that the Lord strengthen the two of you and give you His peace that passes all understanding. I also pray that He raises up two mighty warriars(sp? - sorry!)to fight for His honor as hard and as mighty as the boys are fighting right now. I have requested prayer for you at our church also. I know there are some prayer warriors that are interceding for the four of you daily. I can not wait for the encouraging updates and testimonies not the mention the pictures of the little blessings. I do not always understand why God sends us through some things. But I have to believe He is walking us through and we will come out stronger and closer to Him. I have faith enough to believe you will all four come out of this journey strong and healthy and ready to tackle anything and everything! God is in control of your "precious cargo"!

I can not even imagine what you guys are going through but I know through the power of prayer your little miracles will be okay. It's a long road to ride down but as you said you are riding with our Lord and through him all things are possible. Please know that your KLTV fans are praying really hard everyday for another miracle of health for the boys. I love you all and Dana you are missed so much in the mornings. The news just isn't the same without you. Thank you both for allowing all of us to follow your progress. May God continue to be with you and know that this is His path for you to follow. Please know if you need help with anything please let us know, you know your fans will do anything for the 4 of you. I know it is expensive to stay with your babies so don't hesitate to ask for anything! May God Bless you all.

Trey, Dana, Ford & Hayden

My Family watches KLTV together every morning and evening. We do miss your sweet face and laughter that you brought to the mornings. We will be happy to have you back when that time comes. Prayers are with you all always. I have been in the NICU with a godson and I can't imagine having it with twins. One was plenty for me. I was his second mother from birth so I was there in the NICU. I understand the roller coaster and would not wish that on anyone. I have always been told there is a reason for everything happening the way it does and I had the hardest time trying to figure out that during our visits to the NICU. Today my godson is doing great he did not walk until he was over 2 and then it is only because Aunt Vicki was just real stubborn about it. One month after he did finally start walking we were told he had CP, and that his walking was just because we pushed and pushed until it happened. At that point I could only think again what is the reason. Now he is 18 almost and has showed his mother and I that we too can overcome the obsticles put in our paths just as we pushed him to do. Keep your prayers headed to the Lord and your chins up and one day hopefully it will all make sense to you too. I know it is hard now.

Trey and Dana and Boys, Stay strong! God is in control and he
"will not forsake you". When my son and daughter-in-law were in your shoes this past summer they had to put complete faith in their Lord and realize they could not change the situation but trust that God was in control. As you turn your sons over to the Lord you will receive strength that comes only from the Lord. Lean on Him. Thanks for the updates. May God continue to bless you and your miracle boys.

Having a preemie that is now 23 years old, I can relate to how tiring and emotional having babies in the NICU can be. Be strong and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
